Most dental materials used in the past involved mercury containing amalgam and various different metals for crowns. These solutions addressed decay but did little to improve the aesthetics of a patients smile.
Dr. Shariff believes that form and function of your dentition can be restored while improving aesthetics through the use of the latest non-metal restorations including resin based composites and all porcelain crowns. With the use of these materials we are able to match the material to the current shade of your teeth or lighten it as you prefer.
Fitting a crown requires at least two visits. The first visit is to remove the decayed segment of the tooth, build it up to its original form, and then precisely shape it to take a mold for the new crown. Using a tooth colored temporary material we custom fabricate a natural appearing temporary crown. The subsequent visit is when the temporary crown is replaced with the lab fabricated permanent crown to be cemented into place in order to fit your tooth and gums perfectly.
